Description fechtelm 2008-10-21 17:49:11 UTC
Dear sir,

I have installed open office 3.0 on WinXP Pro SP 3. I tried to print excel
sheets (Extension .xls) by right-click and selecting "Print" from the context
menu, which fails. Other file types (e.g., .doc) print properly from the context
menu.

Is this a bug in the current version?

Sincerely,
Michael Fechtelkord

I wish to confirm this issue. Moreover, it's a bug as far as I'm concerned. More
specifically: printing an .ods document from the context menu works fine,
printing an .xls document does not produce an item in the print queue.

From the commandline (cmd.exe):
C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 3\program\scalc.exe" -p "C:\Temp\Testprint.ods
prints a document, whereas
C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 3\program\scalc.exe" -p "C:\Temp\Testprint.xls
does /not/

Also encountered on Ubuntu Ibex, running OOo2.4.1 (from the Ubuntu repositories,
therefore probably ooobuild edition?):

/usr/bin/soffice -p testprint.xls
produces nothing.

According to the linked forum entry the reason is that obviously no sheet is
selected in the xls file.

Should we either print all sheets in that case or at least give an error message?

adjusting target
Comment 7 niklas.nebel 2010-08-25 15:41:10 UTC
retargeting to 3.4 for time reasons
Comment 8 niklas.nebel 2010-12-03 15:51:44 UTC
Fixed in CWS "dr78". XLS files have information about the selected sheet, and we
use it now.

Reassigning to QA for verification.
Comment 10 kla 2011-03-09 13:05:42 UTC
Works fine in cws dr78 -> verified
