Description x9 2008-10-27 22:21:30 UTC
When saving a 2.1 file in 3.0 data ranges, and possibly related chart properties
(line width), of charts are being changed causing charting problems. I discuss
this issue here in the forum.

This issue appears to be caused by 3.0 attempting to correct what it *assumes*
is an error in the data start points. This causes loss of chart data each time
until a correction of 3.0 correction is made.

If you edit the global data range in the field on the data range tab page your
input is interpreted by the chart and split automatically into several ranges,
that are then used for categories and series. The range is split into columns
and rows as described by the controls below the data range field.
In case you are not satisfied with this automatic splitting please use the Data
Series page.
Here are no automatisms involved and you will exactly get what you have added,
because you yourself indicate that a range is for the categories or for the
y-values of the series or for a name of a series and so on.

In some special cases obviously the automatic splitting of the global range does
something that is unexpected for several users. This problem is already reported
with issue 92339.

About the sometimes vanishing series - this happens in case you changed the
global range to something from what the automatic splitting makes less series
then before. You can avoid this also by using the data series tab page.
