Description Unknown 2002-11-27 20:00:44 UTC
OOP Version: 643C (Writer)
Operating System: Window XP
Bug in find and replace command.

(“->” means click by mouse)

1.	Open OpenOffice
2.	-> File -> New -> Text Document.
3.	Enter “ that is that what is not there but what is there is that”
4.	-> Edit ->Find & Replace
5.	Type “is” in ‘Search for’ box.
6.	Check the ‘Backwards’ option.
7.	-> ‘Find’ button
8.	See the Effects. Note that wrong words are highlighted. Instead of
highlighting “is” it highlights “ i”. This in a defect.

->SBA: The next Search&Replace problem ...
Comment 2 Frank Schönheit 2002-12-12 15:20:41 UTC
Saad, thanks for using and supporting OOo!

confirming this bug.

Oliver, does "the next Search&Replace problem" mean this one is known?

Assigning to word processor component (instead of UI) - not sure if
it's a problem with the OOo-specific I18N, though, because it does not
seem to happen in StarOffice.
CC'ing ER to attract his attention - Eike, please remove yourself from
CC if I was wrong with this :)
Comment 3 Joost Andrae 2002-12-12 16:12:50 UTC
Joost: This doesn't seem to be a problem within the regular
expressions implementation. In this case ER might not be the
apropriate contact person. As it is normal search&replace
functionality and because it is not reproducable within the current
development tree (of srx644) I will close this issue as "worksforme".
Comment 4 ooo 2002-12-12 16:26:51 UTC
I don't think that setting this to worksforme is the right solution
here. Note that the TextSearch interface implementation
i18n/source/search/textsearch.cxx is still different from the one used
in StarOffice, so this would either have to be verified against an
upcoming OO644 build, or debugged on the current OO643C build and see
what the cause really is.

I therefor reopen this issue.

As mentioned on the qa dev list on March 5th I will close all resolved duplicate
issues. Please see this posting for details. First step in IssueZilla is
unfortunately to set them to verified.
