Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 96081
New 'Navigator' Icon not intuitive
Last modified: 2013-07-30 02:36:34 UTC
I don't normally comment on cosmetic features, but the new icon for the navigator continues to frustrate me, not least because I have to consciously look for it. The oldest one was very obviously based on a traditional compass rose, from the days of magnetic navigation, and that was fine and very intuitive. The newest one is just a sort of gold star, of the sort that Employee of the Month might wear, and has no obvious connection with the idea of navigation at all. I have to stop and think every time I want to use it. I was going to make it P5, but it does slow me down when working so I have chosen P4 instead. I'm entering this as an enhancement request - please supply a good one. If the world would only stand still for a bit I'd molish a new one.
Please attach a screen shot with the icon. The default theme (Galaxy) still uses a compass design, not a star... Have you selected a custom icon theme: e.g. Tango? Cheers.

Ok, cheers for the feedback. You are using a linux build that defaults to the custom icon theme: Tango. This is not supported by Sun's Art Team. Please switch back to the Classic or Galaxy icon theme if you prefer. -> Jimmac, one to consider. Since all custom themes use a similar design to yours, you may want to keep things as they are?... Ah. right. Thanks. I'm set to something called Suse 11 Gillouche, but changing the icon set does not change OOo. The other two you mention are not there. I'll talk to Novell

I currently don't have write access to the svn repo, so attaching the icon in question to the report in the meantime.
