Hello,

openoffice is very slow at rendering postscript images (".eps" files).
Scrolling through a file containing postscript images is a pain : "read error"
appears every time an image is encountered, and it takes about one second before
the image is rendered and "read error" disappears.
Note that those images are light weight and are instantaneously rendered by
"gv". Also, the same file with the same images is rendered more quickly by
Windows Word.

I wish the rendering of postscript images in openoffice could be improved.

Regards,

Please:
- Test this in a current 3.0 version
- Attach a sample document

Hello,

after trying to answer your request, I will add a precision :

- When eps images are included as links, OO takes too much time to render them.
An error message "read error" appears while scrolling up or down and the whole
application stalls for seconds.

- When eps images are embeded, OO renders them quicker. The "read error" message
does not appear. I still find it slow and it scrolling is not smooth.

So, the main problem is when images are embeded. Since my hard disk is fast, the
linux box not busy, and the images are directly rendered when I use gv, I
consider that the slowliness comes from OO.

Smoothness of the scrolling could also be improved (while scrolling, the image
doesn't need to be rendered !).

I won't do that now (I'm afraid of breaking things which somehow work... I don't
want to spend spend hours to set them back)

Regards.
