Description tab 2008-11-24 02:09:00 UTC
After a failed search, Writer asks: ...Do you want to continue at the beginning?
Reply Yes.
When search fails again, Writer asks the same question.
Why? It should realize that, by now, the whole document has been searched.

Not if one needs to search many times in the document:
Search and replace all blanks with 2 blanks. One may want to control the
replacement and do this many times.

es gives example: 'Search and replace all blanks with 2 blanks'
How does this apply? After replacing one blank with two, search for blank with
not fail (with twice as many blanks as before).
'One may want to control the replacement...' Exactly. If I searched for 'xyz',
left some and replaced others, I don't want to stumble again on those I already
decided not to replace.
So, in fact, Writer should remember where a search started, and stop there after
wrapping around. User can always re-start the search if she wants to.

Reassigned to requirements.

Pop up message "OpenOffice Writer has searched to the end of the document. Do you want to continue at the beginning?" should be replaced with check box in Find & Replace dialog "continue search at beginning".

Failure "Search key not found." should be announced within Find & Replace dialog and not in pop up window -> save user another click :)
