RPT: for spreadsheet reports, the resulting cells should grow vertically as needed
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:45:09 UTC
- open the attached database document - execute the contained report by double-clicking it => in the resulting spreadsheet document, the cells in the first column are too small to display their complete content. However, the text is simply cut. It would be better if SRB would generate spreadsheet documents with the following cell styles: - "Wrap text automatically" (found in "Format / Cells / Alignment") should be ON - the rows should be set to "optimal height" In this case, Calc would automatically grow the rows as needed, to display their complete content.
Actually, I think it might be desired for the user to control this behavior: Perhaps there are scenarios where automatically growing the rows is not desired? In other report designer applications, a property which controls this is called "Can Grow" (Yes/No). Perhaps we should introduce this property, too. However, it would then need to be disabled if the output format is "Text document", since there is no reasonable way currently to implement this behavior in Writer.
Currently the spreadsheet application doesn't support growing of merged cells. It is planned to be implemented but not in the 3.2 time frame. I change the target to 3.x
