Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 96938
Basic library is lost when saving after network interrupt
Last modified: 2009-01-05 11:58:18 UTC
Besides me also other colleagues had this problem when editing their weekly schedule document using an Office on Sunray. After a home server outage an already opened document cannot be saved any more (a corresponding error message is shown). Using "Save as..." instead works, but afterwards the Basic Standard library (used for realistic planning tools in the weekly schedule doc) is missing in the new document. kso faced a similar problem when removing his notebook from the network and reconnects later while a document is open. I've dis- cussed this with mav and according ro him this is the same pro- blem. He thinks it appears only when the document already has been saved at least once after opening it. This is no exotic scenario, especially for notebook users. As discussed with mav this is not very difficult to fix and should be handled as 3.0.1 showstopper.
kso -> cc
The fix is integrated. The dataloss part of notebook scenario is also fixed. The impossibility to store the document if the notebook has got a new network name should be fixed for OOo3.1 with the new file locking UI.
mav->tm: Please verify the issue.
mav->tm: Please verify the issue. I have used the vmware image to reproduce the network outage scenario.
TM->JSK: as talked about, please take over. Thanks !
What i did for reproduction: - Copied the weekly schedule file to a remote drive - Opened - Pulled the network cable - Clicked on "Save" -> The office freezes and wakes up after some time The delay is a little longer than it takes for Gnome to recover - Clicked away the warning that the file could not be saved - Clicked "SaveAs" -> The office freezes for a while - Saved the file to my local home directory - Closed the office - Reopened the office - Loaded the file -> The library is missing (in OOOm13) In the build from CWS mav45 takes much longer to recover from a broken network connection than before (20 minutes!). Investigating further.
Ok, after a second try i could confirm that the MWS can take exactly as long to recover from a network drop than the CWS, so we have no regression. Verified.
