Description thatseattleguy 2008-12-15 09:03:22 UTC
Running under OS X 10.4.11. Vanilla OS; I've reloaded and reinstalled OO twice from the main site.
Same problem:

About 15-20% of the time after saving a spreadsheet in Calc (.odt or .xls formats - doesn't matte;
autosave or manual save - doesn't matter), OO crashes ("the application soffice.bin quit unexpectedly").

And it crashes HARD - even Force Quit won't kill it. You have to reboot OS X from Terminal to get rid of
it.

I'm sorry I can't be more specific about this, but there's not a lot more to report - the resulting "report
this bug to Sun" dialogue screen won't even allow any user input, so that doesn't help. And OS X isn't
giving up any more information, either.

I'm glad to provide ANY other information that would be helpful, or run a debug version. This is
absolutely killing any atempt to use OO on my main system.

Reported issues 94846 and 96285 may be similar or related (crash reporter behavior).

Can you please rename your preferences and tell us ?

(this is ~/Library/Application Support/OpenOffice.org folder to be renamed)
Comment 6 thatseattleguy 2008-12-18 08:50:45 UTC
You mean rename the Preferences folder, so that OO has to re-create it from scratch, and then let you
know if it still exhibits the same crash behavior?

I can do that, but each time I've reloaded OO I've used AppDelete to get rid of the old version, so the Prefs
folder would have been wiped out and re-created along with the reloaded OO. So essentially I already did
this, twice...

But I'll do it again if you think that would help debug this in any way.

Never heard back from the requestor, but I did rename my preferences folder, and the crash still occurs in
exactly the same way.
Comment 8 thatseattleguy 2008-12-28 18:38:23 UTC
Just a note that I did rename my preferences folder, and the crash still occurs in exactly the same way,
just as often. Please let me know if I can provide ANY other information - again, this is a daily occurrence
with Calc here.

Noting that I've been using OO-dev (m7 / build 9393) for several weeks now and have not seen the crash,
even once. But then again I've switched to Leopard, so it's quite possible this was a Tiger-specific bug.
