Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 98569
Auto extension save-as fails in export to PDF
Last modified: 2009-04-06 16:20:43 UTC
Using the export to PDF function (either on File menu or the toolbar button) brings up the save-as dialogue. With auto extension ticked or not, clicking save using the default filename(with no file extension) results in the message 'filename.odt already exists. Do you want to replace it?". In OOO300 it would have just created the file filename.pdf. The problem only occurs when I do not type anything in the filename field but leave it as the default (without extension). If I type a new file name, or even retype the default filename, then it works properly. So, in sequence, Open file called 'name.odt' File->Export as PDF ... Export Save causes the problem. However, Open file called 'name.odt' File->Export as PDF ... Export Type 'name' in the file dialogue Save works. Hope this helps (but it looks like an initialisation issue to me), This is definitely a change from OOO300 as I do this type of exporting a lot. Cheers Paul OOO 3.0.1 OOO300m15 (Build: 9379) Windows Vista
My experience mirrors Paul's. It is not appending the .pdf extension even if the box is checked for Auto Extension. The file generated is indeed a .pdf file, however the extension is defaulted to the same as the document. Renaming the exported pdf while still in the dialog box will not automatically change the extension, leaving the resulting exported .pdf file with the same extension as the originating document. As expected, renaming the exported PDF file to have a .pdf extension will allow the file to be properly accessed as a PDF. Cheers, SIXIT~ OOO 3.0.1 OOO300m15 (Build: 9379) Windows Vista
I also experience this bug. I am on Vista Home Premium x64. (OOo is x86.) This bug also happens when anything other than the default odt, odp, ods, etc. is used. If I try to save an ODT file as a DOC file, I will get name.odt instead of name.doc. However, the bug does not occur when the document is saved for the first time. (It appends the correct extension in this case.)

Agreed with original issue report. Auto extention appears to be broken in the pdf export function. Instead of the file saving as pdf it saves as original document extention. This is not an issue within OO 3.0.0 but issue arose in OO 3.0.1 00: 3.0.1 OS: Windows Vista
is this one of the already reported ones?
