Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 98586
PDF writer doesn't write logical page numbers
Last modified: 2009-01-30 13:45:37 UTC
When I create a PDF file from a chapter in my document, the PDF page numbers are the physical page numbers instead of the logical page numbers. For example, if I want to create a PDF file from (logical) pages 91-104 (These are the numbers at the bottom of the pages.), I select physical pages 105-118 in the create pdf dialog. The generated PDF file uses neither the logical page numbers (91-104), nor the physical page numbers (105-118). Instead page numbers 1-14 are used. PDF has the facility to use the logical page numbers. Please generate the logical page numbers when generating a PDF file. With the logical page numbers, one can easily find the correct page. (In the above case, the reader (acroread) should be able to find logical page 101 in the 14-page subset that was generated.) This should probably be an option on the create pdf dialog box.
I checked with "Ooo 3.0.0 (DE) Multilingual version German UI WIN XP: [OOO300m9 (Build9358)]" and a global document; I can confirm the reported effect. For further details see attached screenshot.
