After I drag and drop a slide in the slide pane I am brought back to the drag
point, rather than drop point. 

I would expect it to just leave me at the dropped slide. 

This is a regression from ooo 2.x

Which OS do you use? If you use linux: do you use the original version from OOo
or from some other distributor? Please give a step by step description. Thanks.

platform was windows XP. I have not yet tried it on Linux.

Step by Steps:

Drag slide 6 and drop it between slide 1 and 2.
you'd expect to see slide 6 in the slide pane, in its new position at slide 2.
however, instead the slide pane is showing me a slide next to the one I just
moved around postiion 6.
