Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 99722
Aqua: wrong scaling on dualhead
Last modified: 2009-08-06 03:49:42 UTC
The text field in writer and all other document fields in the other applications have wrong scaling on my dualhead configuration on MacOS X 10.5.6 using Matrox TripleHead2Go hardware. The bug seems to be similar to the one described in issue 12404. I uploaded a screenshot to the URL given above. http://www.linz.at/images/AGB_egov_2008.odt
MRU->PL: do you have the opportunity to test a Dual-head scenario on Mac?
I do not have too much time to spend on this issue, but if you could send me instructions on what to test, I will do so.
Works fine for me, but I don't have a "matrox triplehead2go". pl->hdu: sounds like issue 89650, but if it still happens in OOO310m3, then we still have a problem.
@strieben: are you sure you tested with OOO310_m1 or newer? If not then please download a recent version from http://download.openoffice.org/next/ and test with it.
Please have a look at my screenshot at http://snqm5w.blu.livefilestore.com/y1pI5n_UvIYDvnKD3EPwh0ScJWFpItb2LrjwHrHvW9nzmBY4jvL1kVz76WyxD2ugyrFqH38WxKFls8/oo_mac.png I did an update using the standard mechanism about a week ago. I think I have quite a new release version. I took OOO310_m3 in the first place because there was no OOO300_m15. Now I understand that OOO310_mX are development versions. No matter... I still have the same problem with OOO310m3 (Build:9387) (cf. http://snqm5w.blu.livefilestore.com/y1p2t0lIdJdkJbnAhb5B0i7kIP3Hd3ByNuVTcbND9hQDKessYwTDlnz6ESdTbikfNqXOv_9rp72sKZcLSRORhDMTQ/mac_oo_dev.png)
Ah, the screenshots show that the actual difference between x- and the y-axis-scaling is not very much. @strieben: What is the resolution of the individual monitors? What is reported as the combined resolution? @pl: for the Aqua port I tend to get rid of the whole support for asymmetric displays...
I have a MacBook Pro 15" with a display resolution of 1440x900. I have connected two 19" monitors connected to my TripleView2Go with a combined resolution of 2560x1024. I have not synchronized both displays which means, that they are really separate. You can find a screenshot of the Matrox system settings panel at http://snqm5w.blu.livefilestore.com/y1pylcHsAtoqcoCBbS2Yvl7wUiz80wqT6lizqVImPoe4szY4_FihOvBbVyKYLRj5O_XtSdKAUqL1uLvwmIv0mf8ww/gxm.png
So OOo calculated the display resolution as about 135xpix/dpi and 80ypix/dpi and tried to serve this anisotropic display as good as possible, because the Matrox driver doesn't account for the width of the second 19" monitor. Me and PL agreed to stop bothering with anistropies reported by OSX => done in CWS vcl100

Not ready for closing yet. First it needs to be verified in CWS vcl100, integrated and reverified.

setting status back to FIXED
@pl: please dev-verify in CWS vcl100
verified the change in CWS vcl100

Unfortunately, I'm still experiencing issues with this. My dual-head setup uses two 1280x1024 monitors. One monitor is a Soyo brand, and the other is WiseWing - both low-end flat panel devices. I'm using an Nvidia Geforce 6800 graphics card, and I'm achieving dual monitor support through NVkush. I downloaded OpenOffice.org after the two monitors were working. I tried DEV300_m53, and it's much better, but still not quite right. The icons on the welcome screen are now jumbled together, and I have to zoom out to 50% in writer to get a normal page zoom. I love OpenOffice on Linux (I use Ubuntu 9.04), so I'm really hoping I'll get to use it in Mac also! Thanks for the hard work!
