Description safway 2009-03-04 15:28:36 UTC
Note: OpenOffice was apparently earlier capable of doing this as is mentioned in
Lars Opermann's paper titled "Using XForms in Office Applications."

Details: When we create XForms it would be MUCH easier for the user to drag form
controls from the form window into the instance data window. As it stands now,
the user is required to both build the instance data as well as the form
controls in two different steps.

Rational: It takes forever to build any XForm document in OpenOffice because of
the multiple duplication now required.

Steps to reproduce:
Open a new XForm
     File
     New
     XML Form Document
Ensure form control toolbar is enabled:
     View
     Toolbars
     Form controls
Ensure form design toolbar is enabled:
     View
     Toolbars
     Form design
Ensure XML Data Navigator window is enabled:
Withing Form design toolbar toggle on XML data navigator using icon
Insert form control into form window:
     Select form control from toolbar
In form window click and drag to size your control
Build your instance data from form window controls:
Click and drag the control from the form window into the instance data window.
This is where it doesn't work and it should either start a wizard to build
the instance data from the properties of the form control or at least drop a
copy of the form control into the instance data window.
