I am sorry but you are the only person who cannot type "f". I had similar issue on my Ubuntu box when I accidentally assigned some action to one of the letters (it was "d" in my case). Please verify that your shortcuts both in your OS and NetBeans do not contain an action assigned to "f" key. Closing as works for me.
