After I installed the plugin 'Beanmill', netbeans stopped working. 

Beanmill can be found at http://blogs.cismet.de/gadgets/beanmill/

The plugin dialog stopped once the plugin was installed, but the plugin seems to be working. It's not possible to start netbeans again afterwards.
