A large number of things break when running NetBeans with Java 9. My most primary example is the Notification window. The List on the left becomes a button with the text "Left Button". A number of other windows won't load at all.

NetBeans 8.2 does not work with JDK 9. Please use JDK 8 instead. For more information please read here: https://jaxenter.com/netbeans/using-apache-netbeans-incubating-jdk-9
