Yes, in current state it's as designed, multi editor feature is planned in future, but not for 4.0. Meanwhile, could you describe "many other situations" in which multiple editors are needed? Only real world use case I know today is multi monitor set up, which are these other situations? Still valid. Another situation this will be useful: You are editing a new file, and you need to copy lots of content from another file. Having both windows open is extremely useful in this case. Maybe there is a way to get around this? you can split the editor and see 2 files at once. Just drag one of them to the side. it doens't solve the multimonito problem though. Implemented in main trunk, views and editors now can be dragged and dropped outside of main window on second monitor. |
