Launch IDE, and first thing that happens is the
whole MainWindow is erased and repainted.

I have a patch for this if desired.

Ok, use cvs diff -u and "Create a new attachement"

I belive there is already known issue in winsys about flickering
during the start on Windows, please make this a duplicate of it.

This issue was solved long time ago. Because nobody has reopened it neither
added comments, we are verifying/closing it now. 
If you are still able to reproduce the problem, please reopen.
