Opened the tools menu and clicked on a background application.  NULL pointer
exception occurred.

Regular, not UI, bug.

I have seen this exception before. It appears to be thrown from native code in
the JDK. So I am not sure if it is caused by some problem in the IDE, or is
simply a JDK bug. Will leave open just in case. Also it is Windows-specific I
believe.

Its status is Closed and Fixed. The commit should appear in the Merlin and
Ladybird.
