And what is the expected behavior?

- close button hides main window and leaves icon in system tray

- minimize button hides main window and leaves icon in system tray (and what
about application in task bar?)

- should the tray icon be always visible or not?

What I would like to have is hiding the entry in the task bar.
It is really hard to decide what is the best option.
My favorite is:
- minimize button hides main window (task bar entry disappears too) and leaves
icon in the system tray
- clicking on the icon in the system tray restores the window (task bar entry
appears) and removes the icon from the system tray

There is already a plugin existing in the plugin portal:
http://plugins.netbeans.org/PluginPortal/faces/PluginDetailPage.jsp?pluginid=8738
A first test shows it works on 6.5 .
