Description Akriti 2013-09-18 16:54:42 UTC
1)Calc->Data->Validity-> Set some validation->Goto Error Alert tab->Set user 2)defined alert as error
Check the validation for the selected cell by providing invalid input
3)Look for icon in open pop up

Error Noticed: There is no icon present in open pop up as compared to ms excel
The same is observed for warning and information actions

I do not understand the problem. I have lots of spreadsheets with validity check, and I never missed "an" icon. What icon should I expect?

@Akriti
Please attach a sample document containing a data range with validity check and a screenshot with comments.

@Rainer Bielefeld:
Hi.
When user set alerts,the alert pop up only displays title and text. There is no way to display whether the pop is of type warning ,error ,info or marcro.
If we compare the same in ms excel, the set alerts have a icons in the dialog to showcase the type of dialog.

Yes, indeed, information in message box is a little poor.

a) Text message "Invalid Value" is poor. In menu 'Data -> Validity -> Error Alert
   - Error Message' a more meaningful text can be added, the field is empty by
     default. May be something like "User defined restrictions for input of
     values" or similar would improve usability?

b) At least a Help button leading to 'Validity of Cell Contents' should be added

c) [OK] button IMHO is misleading for selected proceeding "Stop",
   I think this is a bug. "OK" generally is for
   confirmation or finishing an allowed operation, but here you only can
   * Retry
   * Ignore Value: Input will be ignored, cell cursor moves to expected
     position
   * or whatever (dependent on settings in menu 'Data -> Validity ->
    Error Alert'
d) Related to "Bug 41104 - Needs Spec: Make Calc "Data Validity" more powerful
   and easier to use", I did not find the time to check all suggestions there.

e) Inherited from OOo

@Akriti
Can you please submit extra bug for 'c', if you agree with my thoughts and no DUPLICATE does exist
