Description Marcus 2014-12-30 10:55:39 UTC
Due to some discussions on the dev@ mailing list, it was mentioned that the error messages like "JRE not available" (there are a few more) needs to be improved to show the user whats really up.

For this the fix is split-up into 2 parts:

1. Update the text in the shown dialog. Add a URL to a webpage.
2. Create the webpage to show full details.

It is agreed to get the new webpage translated, so it will be added to the "www.openoffice.org/xx/..." area.

"marcus" committed SVN revision 1648506
#i125981# Added webpage to explain why OpenOffice needs Java
Comment 2 Marcus 2014-12-30 11:08:55 UTC
Part #2 was created by taking a copy of "www.openoffice.org/common/java.html". It's now located in "www.openoffice.org/xx/java/index.html".
Comment 3 Marcus 2014-12-30 11:27:45 UTC
The new text for the error message is the following.

"Some OpenOffice operations use the Java Runtime Environment (JRE).
A suitable JRE is not installed. For details please see:
http://www.openoffice.org/java.html"

(suggested by Dennis E. Hamilton and already agreed on the mailing list)

In Pootle the URL can be exchanged to "http://www.openoffice.org/xx/java/index.html" when the L10N teams want to show a translated text to their users.

The easiest translation will be "http://openoffice.org/xx/java" so there is as little as possible to have to copy or type.
