added Dina as cc, as this is a highly visible bug that tkos should be aware of DL->OC: Could you please handle this? The text alignment is general. Excel checks the first character of the cell to determine which direction to use for general. This is not a problem of the import filter, this has to be handled by the core Falko, it was left that way on purpose - "Default" alingment is still left for text, right for numbers. In the imported example document, this doesn't look good. FT: Excels amd Calcs "General" text alignment are interpreted different: Excel: Alignment depends on cell content Calc: Alingment is always left for text and always right for numbers Thus all text with "Default" alignment from Excel is always left aligned in Calc. Solution 1: When importing Excel checking based on Excels rules for alignment and hard format it to right aligned if applicable. Solution 2: Behave completely like Excel. Question: Is option 2 desired? I have no input from Arabic countires on such issue. >Question: Is option 2 desired? I have no input from Arabic countires on such issue. notice my issue #17513 (which was resolved won't fix)- in effect, it is asking for something similar to option 2. I don't know about Arabic- so I am cc'ing some people who reported Arabic related bugs. I hope that they will voice their opinions. removing myself from cc. Sorry, I can't give you any input on this (only once stumbled upon a bug in an arabic version, but opinions or ideas on the general topic) FT: This issue is not solved nor is there any input from Arabic stakeholders, so I have to postpone this issue to Office Later. Fweel free to re-target this issue once there are more information available. I think I would prefer option 2. I agree that option 2 is better Please add keywords: ms_interoperability FT: Please verify and assign to developer if applicable, thx. OC=>DR: At the moment the used font determines the direction but it would be better to check if the characters are ASCII or BIDI to get the direction new target |
