Mmmh... How do I attach a document? Search on this page the link called "Create a new attachment" Please disregard the following statements: This is a regression, OpenOffice 1.1.1 is able to open this document. Reproduced on Linux/x86 and Solaris/SPARC. I'm able to reproduce the crash on Linux/x86, using the French version of OOo 1.1.2. I don't see the crash on Solaris/SPARC, using the English version of either OOo 1.1.1 or OOo 1.1.2. Maybe the crash is related to the fact that I'm using a French version of OpenOffice vs. an English version. Ok, so when you'll have found how to attach the document I'll check it again in a French build. I tried hard to find how to attach a document. Maybe I should report a bug against either the documentation or the issue tracker ;-) This page doesn't explain much: http://www.openoffice.org/nonav/scdocs/ddIssues_EnterModify.html It points to: http://www.openoffice.org/nonav/scdocs/contributing_patches.html which reads: If your patch pertains to an existing issue, you should use the Create a new attachment link in the issue edit screen to submit your patch [...] I can't find the "Create a new attachment" link. On THIS page we are currently writing on you have at the top many fields. Among them "Keywords" and below it "Attachments". On the right of it a link called "Create a new attachment". Do you see it now? I see the "Keywords" field, I see the "Attachments" field, but I don't see any link called "Create a new attachment". I'd like to show a screenshot or attach the HTML page, but since I cannot attach files... I've also saved this HTML page and run this command: $ grep attachment show_bug.cgi <pre>Search on this page the link called "Create a new attachment"</pre> you should use the Create a new attachment I can't find the "Create a new attachment" link. "Create a new attachment". Do you see it now?</pre> $ Something's definitly wrong. http://www.openoffice.org/issues/createattachment.cgi?id=30691 There seems to be a lot of people compaining aobut not finding that link. Yes, the issue has benn addressed. I personnaly don't know when it will be fixed (I hope and guess very soon). In the midtime I asked for the sample doc by e-mail. I'll attach it here. Created attachment 16160 [details]
Sample doc
Seems to work fine on Win XP Pro 2002 SP1, OOo 1.1.2 and 2.0_680m41 (English versions) I can't reproduce it in: OOo 1.1.2 (8784) OOo 680m45 But I can reproduce it in SO 7.0pp3 (8784) Everything on Linux SO I sent a crashreport with task ID 117271. Let's see... I can't reproduce it ... w2k sp4 OOo 1.1.2 MRU->MM: this is the corresponding issue task to crashreporter task 117271. Retargeted to 1.1.4. I can confirm this bug on my Slackware 10 box. I have OOo1.1.0, 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 installed. The 1.1.2 Linux barfs on load, and just sits there until I kill -9 it. The document in question is a word 8.0 file written in french. Could this be the bug source? On my WinXP Pro box, a lowly p150 I can load the same word 8.0 file in a copy of 1.1.2 and it loads fine. Another point of maybe useless info is: this file came to me via email from a hotmail account to my home account. And another bit of info: If I load the doc say in 1.1.0 or 1.1.1 then save it to starwriter format, then open it with 1.1.2 on my linux box it opens it just fine. I also have no problems loading so called word 9.0 (thank *nix for 'strings my.doc') I didn't attach the file, but if y'all feel it would be useful to do so, drop me a note. FME->MMAHER: The stack (117271) looks like a duplicate of issue 30841. MMAHER->MRU: I think this is a duplicate of i33980 can you check Yes, it is also fixed with issue 33980 and issue 30841. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 30841 *** Closing duplicate. |
