Some object to try with shift + F5 none

Description rgb 2004-10-07 14:14:35 UTC
At the moment, is not possible to select an object (like a math object) with the
keyboard, in order to edit it, in a straight way. I know that with the mouse is
simple, but if you work in a laptop, the keyboard is a best choice...
I also know that you can use the navigator (F5 -> tab -> arrow keys), but when
your document has many equations, to find that particular one you need is almost
impossible (they appear as "Object1", "Object2"... nothing recognizable).
It would be nice to have a better way to do that.

MRU->ES: please if this already exists or is already implemented.
Comment 2 eric.savary 2004-10-08 13:41:04 UTC
By now you can reach the first object using Shift+F5.
But you cannot select a specific object
Comment 3 eric.savary 2004-10-08 13:44:41 UTC
Sorry, I'm wrong: Shift+F5 does not select the first but the next object.
So it works!

Sorry, but I must disagree with this solution... maybe is my instation (OOo
1.1.3) but shift+F5 behaves in a very strange way. Try doing a document with
three or more objects, select one by pressing shift+F5, press Esc to unselect it
and press F5 again... in my case _other_ object is selected, and I can't predict
which one!.
Sometimes, jump to the first object (and if you have a 20 page document plenty
of formulae, this would be a problem), sometimes to the last, sometimes to the
last object in the page... but never select a second object in the same line!
Someone could explain it? I can't understand this behaviour...
Comment 6 eric.savary 2004-10-08 14:21:34 UTC
Please attach a sample document.
Describe where you set your cursor and which object you want to reach.
Comment 7 aviel 2004-10-08 14:26:42 UTC
I can confirm a strange behaviour in shift+F5. Using OO-1.1.0 on WinXP.
I found that if you go one line _above_ the object (formula in my case) it is
likely that Shift+F5 will choose the object in the line below.
Just positioning the cursor before the object will *not* choose the object.

Some object to try with shift + F5
Comment 9 rgb 2004-10-08 15:29:01 UTC
Attach created.
Not a brilliant example, sorry, but is a quick way to confirm that it is not
possible to choose the object that I need among the eight created.
Comment 10 eric.savary 2004-10-08 17:21:25 UTC
ES->OS: Shift+F5 (to next frame) ignores frames placed in the same text line
- insert the dummy text
- place 2 frames on the same line
- place a 3rd frame bellow
- set the cursor between frame1 and frame2
- press Shift+F5
-> selection jumps to the 3rd frame
Expected: selection jumps to the 2d frame

Same problem with OOo 2.0.1
And it is really a problem with a touchpad.

Still same problem on OOo 2.4 (now is Shift+F4, though)
Comment 14 Oliver Specht 2008-05-05 07:13:10 UTC
->od: It uses SwFEShell::GotoObj()
Reassigned to od, type changed to defect
