Description iainmcc 2005-12-13 20:36:33 UTC
Creating a new OOo text document from the Windows explorer context menu creates
files that cause autocorrect to fail.

To reproduce:
1) Right-click in a Windows Explorer, select New, OpenDocument Text. (Windows
creates a .odt file, about 2-3Kb)
2) Open this and try quotes and word replace. They work.
3) Save the file and exit OOo
4) Open the file. Quotes and word replace no longer work.

Creating a new document using the Quickstarter, or File/New/Text (^N) seems
fine. The initial empty file is larger (5.7K versus 2.4K), and autocorrect
continues working properly when the file is re-opened later.

Reassigned to SBA.

MRU->SBA: just a guess from reading the summary: maybe it is due to issue 29485
- no document language when creating document via Windows desktop,
Comment 6 iainmcc 2005-12-14 19:49:27 UTC
Further to the language thing, I also note that the thesaurus is not available
at step (4) either. Spellcheck and hyphenation are available and work, though.

For documents created either from the quickstarter or file/new, the thesaurus is
available and works properly.

BTW, my XP language default is EN-US. I also had CH (chinese, plus asian
language support) installed at one point (on my home machine), and this seemed
to have no bearing on the issue.
Comment 7 hwoarang 2006-01-02 19:47:43 UTC
I can easily reproduce with OOo 2.0.1 Win98SE.
Using: OOo2.0.1 en_EU with pt_BR dictionary alone.

Just follow the steps in comment 1.

Thank you for reporting.
