Description raindrops 2006-01-11 09:24:42 UTC
I had saved a doc file as odt file using Writer. The original file had many
nested tables. Out of these, some appear inside frames.

The problem is I cannot remove the frames; so that I can edit the nested tables
freely afterwards.

instead, I have to do the following:

1. Insert another nested table next to the problematic table.
2. Select the text inside the framed table and cut it (CTRL+X)
3. Go to the new nested table and paste the text there.
4. Delete the frame (that contains the now-empty table).

*********
This problem has two aspects:
1. Converted tables should not put nested tables in frames.
2. It should be possible to remove the frame from around a table (or image).
(MS Word has a context menu command for that. But Writer does not have any
provision for this.)

Closing duplicate.

Only part-1 is covered in that other issue.

I would like to reopen the issue for part-2, as an enhancement.
(please change the summary)

Thanks in advance.

MRU->raindrops: For the future, please only submit ONe PROBLEM PER ISSUE, as it
is stated in the issue guidelines. Also those "mutating" issues won't ease the
work of evaluating issues anyway.

Desired is a way to easily remove frames without deleting the content in it.

it is a hell of a job to inframe a document. Please make a unframe button.

This would be a great help when importing PDF's. Impress splits PDFs into so
many
text frames (nearly 100 per page), that the formatting is often messed up. Not
to
mention hard hyphenation is often put into 2 separate frames making it's removal
extremely difficult.

I don't have a problem with copying and pasting each page from impress to writer
(I
might add a request to add save to odt in impress), but I do have a problem with
the
work load of removing the frames.
