The Alt-Key should be available in the shortcut assignment too.

UHE->FT: Please have a look, thanks !
Comment 2 Frank Schönheit 2003-02-17 16:32:29 UTC
correcting target. 1.0.2/1.1 Beta does not make sense for a feature
request which has not even been evaluated.
Comment 3 ingenstans 2003-04-15 09:09:55 UTC
I'm sure you're right, Frank, but it's a great disappointment. Making
the alt key available as a modifier would at a (key) stroke make OOo
much easier to customise and so to control.

I know there are issues with window managers on Linux, and to some
extent on Windows. But users grown-up enough to customise their
keystrokes are capable of avoiding such conflicts or fixing them if
they suddenly appear. And the uses of the alt key aren't limited to
modifying ordinary keys. Being able to make use ctrl-alt and shift-alt
combinations is also a great help. So I'm voting for this, though I
think it should be a framework issue, rather than a ui one.

Comment 4 Frank Schönheit 2003-04-16 14:34:06 UTC
I really agree that customizing shortcuts including the Alt-key is
heavily needed, but that alone doesn't help :)

This just came up on the mailing list agin. by my reckoning, there are
five requests for this in IZ -- the oldest is #32. Surely, a decent
reverence for such an ancient part of our culture should lead us at
least to evaluate the question properly?

I'm also going to shift this to framework, where it belongs.
Comment 7 Frank Schönheit 2003-05-22 10:01:22 UTC
not sure if framework actually is the better component, but doesn't
really matter. Adding UI's issues list to CC.

Is it possible that the patch in #11004 has already solved this?
Comment 10 bettina.haberer 2003-11-12 15:59:26 UTC
Hi Christian, could you please consider this for the PCD 20069? Thank
you.Currently there is no hint within 20069 for a possible adding of
the Alt-key.
Comment 11 christian.jansen 2004-07-30 14:38:52 UTC
CJ->AS: Hi Andreas. Could we add ALT to the modifyer list?. If not please close
the task. Thanks.

Here in issue 6342 the opening description

> The Alt-Key should be available in the shortcut assignment too

is comparable with issue 4756

> Expand shortcut possibilities (Use of <Alt> key is not offered)

In 4756 there are two mentions of 6342.

@grahamperrin: You are right.
