My guess is that the Panasonic printer lines up with the one from HP and Brother with buggy drivers.... If the network is installed as "network printer" (doesn't matter whether physically attached to the computer or not), then remapping the networt location to a local printer port should solve the problem. So please check with something like net use lpt2: \\server\printer /persistent=yes I've test it with several printers excepting panasonic printer because have none. Works for me Remapping it as a network printer would be fine if we were actually using it as a network printer. At the moment, users install it as a local printer, using a TCP/IP port. Now, without using it as a network printer, is this some kind of known issue with Writer and GDI printers? Is there any fix if we are not sharing the printer but instead have it mapped to a TCP/IP port, as in lpr? This Issue requires more information ('needmoreinfo'), but has not been updated within the last year. Please re-test with one of the latest versions of OOo - the problem(s) may have already been addressed. Either use the recent stable version: http://download.openoffice.org/index.html or consider trying the new OOo 3 BETA (still in testing): http://download.openoffice.org/3.0beta/ Please report back the outcome so this Issue may be closed or progressed as necessary - otherwise it may be Resolved as Invalid in the future. You may also wish to search for (and note) any duplicates of this Issue that may have advanced further : http://www.openoffice.org/issues/query.cgi Regards, Andrew Cleaning-up and Closing old Issues as part of: ~ The Grand Bug Squash, pre v3 ~ This is still an issue, re-tested with latest 2.4 and 3.0 beta. Both versions still achieve the results attached previously. What extra info is needed? I'll be happy to provide it. Still an issue in 3.0 final. Just for test, try the XPS driver from MS to compare the result and save paper. http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/xps/viewxps.mspx Please print the odt and sxw files with the xps driver and let me know about the result. If the error still occur, just attach the xps file, Thanks. Created attachment 57528 [details]
