Description audionuma 2007-06-05 09:50:04 UTC
OOoAqua cannot connect to a simple .odb document with an integrated hsqldb database.

Step by step :
- start OOoAqua
- File > Open > select a .odb document
- When the document opens, click on the Tables icon
- Error message "Unable to establish a connection with the datasource"
- Click on "options"
- Error message : "no java installation could be found. Please check ..."
- Verify that under Tools > Option > OpenOffice.org > Java a JRE is in fact
recognized by OOo (1.5.0_07 in my case)

Mac OS X.4.9 / PPC

It seems not to be a dba problem then a porting one

I assign it to porting.

Keyword added and re-assigned to component owner.
Comment 7 eric.bachard 2007-06-06 09:26:42 UTC
If I'm not wrong, this issue is probably fixed in dbaxx (don't remember the exact name) cws, and the issue
will probably be solved for next resync.
It means next development snapshot, it should work.

Stay tuned

Can you please test the last build ( unofficial, but using m222 ) I put on cusoon ftp and tell us if it works
better or not ?
Comment 9 audionuma 2007-07-26 16:52:27 UTC
audionuma -> ericb : Same test with OOo_SRC680_m222_MacOSXPPC_AQUA__fr leads to
same result. Does not work any better :-(

Ok, thanks for the feedback. Let's wait if m223 helps ( maho build, probably )

Hum ...
Sorry to say that the issue is not solved with maho's PPC m229
(OOo_SRC680_m229_MacOSXPPC_AQUA_install_en-US.dmg) .
Same behavior than described in the original post.

Can you plese try to rename the preferences folder, and reinstall ?

I think the java preferences is damaged, but I didn't figure out why /when yet.

Comment 15 Raphael Bircher 2007-09-24 08:23:35 UTC
Then we reopen

I will try with Mahos m222. I can reproduce the Problem with this Version

audionuma --> ericb
deleted the ~/Library/Application Support/OpenOffice.org-aqua folder and reinstalled.
(I don't think this might be a cause but I install not into /Applications but in /Applications/OOo_Aqua)
Still unable to connect to a database.
For your info, here's the content of ~/Library/Application Support/OpenOffice.org-aqua/2/user/config/

set il in the CC (we have Talk about in the IRC)

This Issue is PPC Only. mav_eric will write about later

Raphael
Comment 18 audionuma 2007-09-25 06:24:00 UTC
Well, it would be nice if another PPC user could reproduce the issue.
There was at least one message on the mac@porting.openoffice.org list that described a similar issue with
m_229 on PPC.

Comment 20 eric_openoffice 2007-09-25 17:45:41 UTC
Confirmed with m229 Aqua PPC downloaded from good-day.net.
Comment 21 helgekraak 2007-09-25 19:59:23 UTC
Same constellation, same problem.
Comment 22 eric.bachard 2007-09-25 20:17:38 UTC
@audionuma

We didn't start with the begining. Are yousure Java works ? e.g. can you run Letter of Fax wizards ?

Other test : can you please, in a Terminal, run javaldx in command line, and let us know if it works ?

cd <install_dir>/OpenOffice.org\ 2.3.app/Contents/MacOS

./javaldx

-> should return the path to JAVA_HOME, and if something is wrong, an error.

Thanks in advance
Comment 23 audionuma 2007-09-25 21:51:50 UTC
trying to run letter or fax wizard : nothing happens (no wizard, no error message)

aputeaux-154-1-25-89:/Applications/OOo_m229_aqua/OpenOffice.org 2.3.app/Contents/MacOS
manunaudin$ ./javaldx
/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.5.0/Home/../Libraries:/System/Library/
Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.5.0/Home/lib

Comment 24 eric.bachard 2007-09-25 21:53:48 UTC
@audionuma

Looks like Java does not work.

Now, why ? Can you check in Preferences whether Java is detected ?

Comment 25 audionuma 2007-09-25 22:22:01 UTC
@ericb : see first message of the issue : the jre is detected in Tools > Option > OpenOffice.org > Java

Comment 28 Raphael Bircher 2007-09-25 23:50:22 UTC
Hello at all

I have asked Martin Hagmann (torwart) to test the same. He has the same Problem.
I have attachet the Screenshot from the Problem.

I think, the programm can't find java. But why the same Version (Martin use m229
from Maho) work on Intel? Wat's the different between the PPC Version and the
Intel Version?
Comment 29 audionuma 2007-09-26 06:14:21 UTC
addendum : just to mention that the Bibliography database can be accessed read and write mode under
Tools > Bibliography or F4 key or View > Datasources ...

Comment 32 stephan_schaefer 2008-01-23 12:59:52 UTC
Can someone please check if this issues still exists on the PPC platform ? On
Intel it is definitely gone, I checked with OOH680_m2.
Comment 33 audionuma 2008-01-23 14:09:30 UTC
Tested with OOo_OOH680_m3 : issue still occurs on iMac G5 / Mac OS X.4.11.
Comment 34 stephan_schaefer 2008-01-23 14:13:48 UTC
@audionuma: so when you go to Tools->Options->Java and wait a few seconds...
does the list get populated or does it stay empty ?
Comment 35 audionuma 2008-01-23 15:32:36 UTC
@ssa : the jre is not detected at initial launch. Two jres appear (1.4.2_16 and 1.5.0_13) on the list and
none is checked. I had to check the most recent one, relaunch OOo, but that doesn't solve the issue.
Comment 36 joachim.lingner 2008-01-25 12:01:09 UTC
I learned that there is no soffice script on MAC which sets the LD_LIBRARY_PATH
(or the respective MAC counterpart) with the result of javaldx. What you could
try out is this:
1.run javaldx
2.expand the LD_LIBRARY_PATH with the paths produced by javaldx
3.run the office

If there is still the problem then please build the project jvmfwk with debug
information. Copy all libraries into the office. Start the office, run the
letter wizard, and record the output from the console. Please attach the output
to this issue. Maybe this helps to locate the problem.
Comment 37 helgekraak 2008-03-15 11:28:53 UTC
In DEV300_m2 the error message ist now java/sql/savepoint
Comment 38 eric_openoffice 2008-03-15 12:17:00 UTC
@helgekraak: Could you please tell us which Mac OS X version you are using and
if it's PPC or Intel.

I downloaded the attached test_base.odb and I can open and edit it with
OOODEV300_m2 under Mac OS X 10.5.2 Intel.

As stated earlier in the comments this may be a PPC only issue and perhaps even
a 10.4.x only issue.

We need more information on this one. An unusable Basemodule in the native PPC
Port wouldn't be any good.
Comment 39 helgekraak 2008-03-15 12:35:43 UTC
10.4.11 PPC

Error Message: "Unable to establish a connection with the datasource." \new
line\ "java/sql/Savepoint"

the error is the same with any of these versions checked.

Java 1.4.2_16
Java 1.5.0_13
Comment 40 eric.bachard 2008-05-13 17:18:16 UTC
AFAIK only PowerPC is concerned
