Sample document
Here it is a sample document. I marked some of the problematic pages (there are more) by highlighting part of the text in red. If you have the Linux Libertine font in your system, the highlighted text will correspond to the text that makes the cursor jump. The file does not show the problem when opened with OOo 2.4.1. The problem is present in both, the rc4 64 bits version and the final 32 bits version. Reassigned to SBA. Tested on OOo310m7 with windows vista . Was not able to reproduce . need more information to reproduce Just open the attached document on Linux, click on the text marked red and the cursor will jump to the beginning of the page or even to the footer of previous page. I can reproduce the behaviour with the attached document on 3.2rc1 64 bits. The document was originally created on OOo 2.x (I only "masked" the text to make it public). Recreating (copy/paste unformatted text) the document on 3.x fix the problem so it is something related with how OOo 3.x manage documents from OOo 2.x. Everything about the problem is in the previous messages. can't reproduce it with 3.2 RC1 32 bit That means this is a Linux AND 64 bits only problem. Created attachment 68506 [details]
stripped down sample document
confirming (3.2.0, linux 32bit - as the reporter uses 64bit → Platform ALL). Important aspects: * only affects mouse-action (keyboard movement/selection not affected) * the page-breaks * the comment/note The problem only occurs when View|Notes is enabled. It does not occur when the note is not displayed. It also does not occur when the note or one of the page-breaks is removed. (the note does not need to be at the last character/paragraph, other text can follow as in the original bugdoc) To reproduce: 0) open the reduced sample. 2) Go to page 3 (the second page in the document, page number changed to odd number, thus OOo adds the (in normal editing view invisible) page 2) 3a) click on the red highlighted text to place the cursor into one of the words. expected: Cursor within the word, where you clicked. actual: Cursor is moved to the beginning of page 3 3b) place the cursor after one of the highlighted words and try to select (with the mouse) to the left to include the highlighted word. expected: selection extends as one drags along actual: selection is extended to the beginning of page 3 as soon as you reach the highlighted word. similarly, when you go to the last page of the document and try to position the cursor into the highlighted word there, the cursor jumps into the footer of the previous page - selection is not possible in this case. >similarly, when you go to the last page of the document and try to position the

this I can reproduce, the other stuff I can't.
I have found this problem, too, with one of my own documents. I can reproduce it in OpenOffice.org 3.2 on Ubuntu Linux 10.04 and in OpenOffice.org 3.2.1 on Windows XP (both 32-bit). To me, it looks as if the combination of a note and a page break makes Writer misinterpret mouse coordinates in the left-hand quarter of the page. For me, right-clicking is also affected. When I right-click to get the context menu, the settings in that menu are the ones for header line (which is to be expected, as the cursor has jumped already). But the position of the context menu is where I actually clicked. Maybe this gives a further clue. Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org". |
