Description sshilpa 2005-04-07 06:46:14 UTC
1) Create a presentation using an Autopilot wizard.
2) In Dialog3 of Autopilot wizard we can set the timing for each silde to jump
to next slide and also to restart the slide show.
3) Set Duration of Page: 00:00:05 (5sec)
4) Insert 3 or more slides to the presentation.
5) Run presentation.

Actual Result:
Notice that only second slide comes automatically after 5sec and rest all the
slides are to be manually driven.

Which does not serve the purpose of setting it in automatic mode.

When building a presentation with the wizard from a template (1st page of
Wizard) this works for me. I have to investigate if this is wrong or right to
copy the settings from the first slide that results out from the wizard to all
others.

The Presentation when created using templates works fine, but manually when we
create a presentation using the insert slide option, the time and the mode do
not get updated in the slide transition pane from the second slide.

I had a talk with the developer and he said that the feature works as aspected.
The problem seems to be now that the wizard promises something that cannot be
guaranteed. CJ and I agreed that the wording in the impress wizard should be
changed. Reassigned to Elizabeth.

What this appears to be about:
On page 3 of the initial Presentation Wizard, under "Select the presentation
type", under "Automatic" ,you can set the duration of page and duration of
pause. CJ and I looked at this and have come to the conclusion that the user
expectation can only be that the duration set here is indeed for all slides in
the presentation.

I cannot change the wording to convey the meaning that the "automatic" duration
only applies to the first slide, because this would no longer be correct for the
concept "automatic", nor would any setting that only applies to the first slide
make sense in the context of a wizard that otherwise applies to all slides. If
the original design of the wizard specified that the duration was only for the
first to second slides, it was a desgn error. No feature is perfect so there is
room for improvement.

In the online Help the functionality is described as follows:
"Select the presentation type"
Determines the timing for the presentation.
You can change the settings later under the menu Presentation.
"Default"
The Default option runs the presentation as a full screen presentation with the
specified speed.
"Automatic"
Runs the presentation automatically, and restarts it again after a break. You
can specify related settings in the adjacent spin boxes.
"Duration of page"
Defines the duration of each presentation page.

Reassigning to developer to correct the functionality. If this cannot be done
for 2.0.1, please retarget to 2.0.2

This works this way since introducing the autopilot in StarOffice 5

To change this needs a complete new core feature including new UI and file
format changes. Thats to much for a .0.x release and this is also no regression
so I target it to OOo later
