from http://wiki.apache.org/general/SummerOfCode2006 -

'Subject ID: spamassassin-mua-learner-plugins
Title: Thunderbird/Outlook/etc Plugins for Learning Messages via Spamd
Description:

The spamd protocol is well defined and allows for learning/reporting of
messages. What is currently lacking is the ability to learn/report those
messages via popular mail applications (Thunderbird, Outlook, etc). Many of
these applications have a well established API for creating add-on plugins that
would allow for this type of activity.'

This is underway; the project will be undertaken by student William Duff,
mentored by Michael Parker.

This bugzilla entry is a tracker item for that work.

hey, I don't know how this is going -- but I have received a couple of
off-list offers of code; specifically existing Outlook plugins.

They probably may be tricky to compile (one, for example, is a "nasty mix
of C++ and VB"), and may have some inherent assumptions about their environment
that don't apply in our case, but as sample code to refer to for workaround for
Outlook wierdnesses, at the least, they'd be very useful I think.

Contact me off-list if you'd like to be put in contact with the
people who offered.

I think we can close this; http://sourceforge.net/projects/soc2006spamd/ appears
to be the results.
