It's not clear that "<use the binding source>" node in tree is matching with
"null" value. I think, changing this text according style of the other nodes
text (data_string" "desciption_or_type_string") will be much more clear for users.

I don't see more consistency in your proposal than in the current solution. The 
other nodes are rendered as (propertyName, type) pair. What you are proposing 
doesn't match this pattern. The current solution has been thoroughly discussed 
with our UI designer => closing as will not change.
