Description zian 2007-05-20 00:16:35 UTC
I already had NetBeans 5.5 installed on my computer.
Then, I downloaded NetBeans 6.0 Preview 1 (M9) and installed it.

Whenever I run NetBeans 6, I recieve a recurring NullPointerException that
prevents NetBeans from getting past the splash screen.

After updating the UML module in NetBeans 5.5, I ws able to start NetBeans
with no difficulties.

please make sure that "userdir" used for 6.0 isn't the same one
that was used for 5.5 and if teh problem persists please provide
detailed steps and also, if possible, the UML project(s)
the IDE wasn't able to open

Also please give a try to latest 6.0 - it is far more improved
in quality vs. M9.

I doubt they were the same userdirs because I left the installer settings at their defaults.

I've since resolved the issue by updating my components, which I mentioned in an earrlier comment.

I already gave the steps to reproduce it. I'm not sure what else you want to know. They are:
1. Install NetBeans 5.5
2. Install NetBeans 6
3. Run NetBeans 6

This is probably fixed by now because I have both versions of NetBeans (5.5 and a recent nightly build) working
perfectly fine.

thank for the prompt response. The questions were because i also
have 5.5 and 6.0 together and haven't seen the problem as well.
