JDK 1.5, Mac OS 10.4, Intel

Profile a project, and open one of the tree table views.  There should be tooltips that show the full name/icon of items in the tree table.

On mac os, for each mouse event the popup appears and immediately disappears, so they flash as you move the mouse, but do not stay on screen

Maybe try using the code for org.openide.explorer.ViewTooltips which was heavily tested/tuned to work well on macintosh.

FYI: You are running NetBeans on Mac OS X not mac os.
