Product Version: NetBeans IDE Dev (Build 200708280000) Java: 1.5.0_07; Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM 1.5.0_07-87 System: Mac OS X version 10.4.10 running on i386; MacCyrillic; ru_RU (nb) On Mac this is not work. On pressing this shortcut I see all opened windows tiled on desctop in preview mode.
It works for me in: Product Version: NetBeans IDE Dev (Build 200709100000) Java: 1.5.0_07; Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM 1.5.0_07-87 System: Mac OS X version 10.4.10 running on i386; MacRoman; en_US (nb) Note that by default function keys invoke hardware control functions like volume or brightness. If you want to invoke corresponding software action use Fn key. See http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.4/en/mh1944.html for more details.
This issue is very well reproducible with iMac5,1 Product Version: NetBeans IDE Dev (Build 200710221200) Java: 1.5.0_07; Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM 1.5.0_07-87 System: Mac OS X version 10.4.10 running on i386; MacCyrillic; ru_RU (nb) Unfortunately there is no Fn key and we were not able to find any way to invoke this shortcut. However, this seems to be general problem as we can't also invoke Shift-F11.
sorry, "no Fn key on your Mac keyboard" is not a bug in profiler AFAIK plz, consult the link provided by thurka to cnofigure your Mac's F1-F15 keys not to perform HW control
The article is about portable computers while I'm dealing with the desktop one. There is no HW control on Fn keys, they just control the OS. And what is the most important that there is no "Use the F1-F12 keys to control software features" checkbox in Keyboard options which is mentioned in that article. The essence of this issue is that user will *not* be able to use the shortcut until some workaround is found.
The workaround is found: user needs to set Dashboard and Expose not to use F9 for All Windows command. However, the shortcut is still conflicting. We should consider to change it.
Lowering priority, users can still create profiling points from editor context menu or from Profiling Points window - no functionality is missing. Moreover, workaround for using the keyboard shortcut exists and is required only on some Mac configurations - problem doesn't affect all Mac users. Current shortcut won't be changed in 6.0.
This appears to be a more general problem, see Issue 104878.
Now when Issue 131399 is implemented (Toggle Profiling Point action doesn't use hardcoded shortcut) the workaround is really simple - just assign any other shortcut for the action not conflicting with OS/other shortcuts.
Now that Issue #131399 is fixed, shortcut for this action can be easily set in Tools|Options|Keymap if the default shortcut conflicts with something -> WORKSFORME
