When trying to attach the profiler I noticed that your wording suggest the user need "Jdk 5.0" rather than a generic "j2se5.0". This can be confusing especially for mac users who only have jdk1.4. The text that should be changed: Step 1: Run the application using JDK 5.0. When starting the application, provide the extra startup option to the java command:
You're right, in general profiled applications can run on JRE, JDK is not required. I don't understand your comment about JDK 1.4 - this Java platform isn't supported for profiling.
The reason I mention jdk1.4 is that when I saw that it said it needs "jdk5.0 or greater" I started to think that profiler attachments did not work on Mac at all because Macs most recent jdk release is 1.4.
You are wrong. Both Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) and 10.5 (Leopard) have JDK 1.5
Thanks for catching it! Now we use more general Java SE 5/6/7 instead of JDK 5/6/7 in Attach Wizard instructions. Fixed in trunk. /cvs/profiler/libs/common/src/org/netbeans/lib/profiler/common/integration/Bundle.properties,v <-- Bundle.properties new revision: 1.2; previous revision: 1.1
You are right.. I am not sure exactly what got me so switched up on this one.
