I've been working with NB6.1 M1 regularly without major problems, but this time it hangs on startup.

can you provide more info like build number and jdk version you are working on
Is it reproducible ?
reassign to profiler for evaluation

Probably caused by initializing UI during IDE startup outside of the EDT.
Fixed for 6.5 M1.
