Description esmithbss 2008-07-31 05:59:18 UTC
[ BUILD # : 200807300201 ]
[ JDK VERSION : 1.6.0_07 ]

I downloaded and installed the 300201 full install and now my UML
projects are not recognized.

Additionally, when I try to create a project, UML is no longer
available as an option.

It appears that the UML capabilities were removed from NB between 14:00Z on the 28th and 0200Z on the 29th.

Where are they? I now have about 40 UML projects that I can't open.

This module should be Required as part of the full version. Not everyone has access to the internet to just download it
form the update center. I have certain development machines that due to security requirements are keep on a no internet
policy.

Because NB 6.5 UML went through a complete rewrite in the diagram editors, it still has not yet met the NB beta quality
critera. As a result, UML has been removed from the NB 6.5 bundle starting in build 20080730 and will be available on NB
6.5 Update Center. The UML module will continue to be built in the zip format, even though it'll not be included in the
NB bundle. You can install the 6.5 UML plugin through the Plugins Manager (Tools > Plugins).

If you have problem installing NB 6.5 UML plugin from the update center, here's what you can do after you install the NB
6.5 bundle.

1. download the latest UML module from http://bits.netbeans.org/download/trunk/nightly/latest/zip/moduleclusters/
   eg, netbeans-trunk-nightly-200807301401-uml.zip
2. unzip netbeans-trunk-nightly-200807301401-uml.zip to the NB 6.5 installation (or home) directory
3. start NB and UML should be there and your existing UML project should be able to open

So the plugin is the version that hasn't met the NB Beta quality criteria, and is the same code that was removed from
the Full distro on the 29th?
Comment 5 esmithbss 2008-07-31 09:11:46 UTC
Available as the UMLKit plugin?
Comment 6 Peter Lam 2008-07-31 18:05:36 UTC
Yes, it's the plugin that hasn't met the NB Beta quality criteria. The uml development continues to fix bugs and changes
are being pushed to NB 6.5 trunk continuously for the NB 6.5 daily build in the zip format.

Yes, it's the UMLKit plugin from the Plugins Manager.

I'm marking this issue INVALID as this is not a bug.
