It is impossible to set the Pylint location on Ubuntu.  Selecting browse and navigating to usr/bin/Pylint the field is
populated but when you return to the Pylint tab again the field is blank.

System:
Product Version: NetBeans IDE 6.5 RC1 (Build 081021)
Java: 1.6.0_0; OpenJDK Client VM 1.6.0_0-b11
System: Linux version 2.6.24-21-generic running on i386; UTF-8; en_US (nb)

looks like this is a persistent problem as in issue 150794
