Description chukmunnlee 2008-10-30 01:34:17 UTC
When you are installing NB 65rc1 or rc2, choose custom install. Do not install GFv3. Continue as per normal. Now
whenever you use NB, it will attempt to create a personal domain automatically. The process will just carry on until you
kill it. But if you install GFv3, then this does not happen.

Reassigning to serverplugins

I have just tried to replicate your results.

here is what I did:

1. cleared the ~/.nbi directory
2. cleared ~/.netbeans/6.5rc2
3. downloaded netbeans-6.5rc2-ml-java-solaris-x86.sh from netbeans.org
4. ran the installer
a. selected 'Customize'
b. unchecked the v3 install
c. entered /export/home/vkraemer/nb6.5rc2 and /export/home/vbk/jdk1.6.0_10 for the nb install options.
d. entered /export/home/vkraemer/gfv2ur2 and /export/home/vbk/jdk1.6.0_10 for the gf v2 install options.
e. unchecked the register after finish
f. finish
5. started the IDE, without importing my 6.1 settings...
  nothing unusual appeared to happen.

Are these the steps that you followed?

Since I haven't been able to reproduce this, I am depending on you to provide detailed information to help isolate the
problem.

Obviously, you would be using a different installer (since you are on linux), but it would be nice to know which one...

did you import your settings from NB 6.1? was gf v3 registered in 6.1?

which distro of linux are you using? which jdk are you using?

where did you tell the installer to put the IDE?

have you cleared your userdir?

do you have a screenshot of what you are seeing? can you attach that?

please attach the file: <nbinstalldir>/etc/netbeans.conf

please attach the file <HOME>/.nbi/registry.xml
