Description esmithbss 2008-11-25 23:09:39 UTC
I installed NetBeans 6.5 on an Ubuntu 8.10 box which already has an installed Glassfish V2 server so during installation
I selected to install the Glassfish V2UR2 with ports 4858, 8090 and 8191 instead of the defaults.

From the command line I shutdown all Glassfish instances and Java applications running on my machine.

Now I start-up NetBeans 6.5 and double check the properties of the configured Glassfish server. The properties match
what I specified during installation.

Now I start the Glassfish server in Debug mode from within NetBeans. While it appears to be launching, Glassfish is
actually starting with the default ports. The IDE believes the app server fails to start; however, a connection to
localhost:4848 proves that it has started the wrong glassfish Domain.

I am going to pass this issue to nityad... she has system with Ubuntu installed... so she may be able to replicate this
easier.

Filer: was the v2 that was already on the system there because of a previous installation of NB or was it part of the
environment 'out-of-the-box'?

When you installed the IDE, it sounds like the GF server was running....

which installer did you use? what was your user ID when you did the NB 6.5/GF v2 ur2 install?

In response to the questions posed:

1) Filer: was the v2 that was already on the system there because of a previous installation of NB or was it part of the
environment 'out-of-the-box'?

Neither. The V2 instance on the box was installed earlier in the week (before Netbeans) by downloading the installation
jar from glassfish.dev.java.net.

2) When you installed the IDE, it sounds like the GF server was running....

Yes, Glassfish is installed on the box and runs as a service when the computer starts up.

3) Which installer did you use? what was your user ID when you did the NB 6.5/GF v2 ur2 install?

Glassfish was installed using the jar based installer for Linux. It was installed initially into a local folder under
my personal username and then uninstalled and reinstalled as root on the box once we completed our validation tests. So
at the time of installation, Glassfish was running, but it was running as a service under the root username while I was
attempting to install NetBeans under my personal id.

Please reevaluate
Comment 6 Vince Kraemer 2010-04-05 21:59:55 UTC
netbeans does not install v2 any more... so this is kind of moot.

marking as wontfix
