[ JDK VERSION : 1.6.* ]

steps:
1) goto services explorer window
2) expand servers node and right click and select add server menu
item
3) in add server instance a default server implementation is selected
by default 
4) now delete the name of the server from name text component and
select another server
5) now again select the first server you selected and this selection
doesn't place the name of the server in the name text component and
asks for the name component again but when you select a server other
than this the server instance name is placed in that component
