Description _ jrichard 2001-10-25 04:42:22 UTC
NetBeans 3.3 beta 1

After a compile, the output window steals focus from
the current component. This can be annoying if I'm actually
doing something (which is typical during long compiles).

I would very much prefer that focus remains as it was before
the compile ended and that the first "Next Error" (currently Alt-F10)
bring me to the first error, moving focus to the editor, on the
line the error occurred, as already happens with "Next Error".

As it is now, I can get back to the editor by hitting "Enter" (since
the output window has focus that works). But that gets me to
the first error, not where I was when the build finished (not where
I want to be).

(It may be that this is expected behavior, in which case I humbly
suggest that this be switched to an enhancement request.)

Moving to OW component.

I suggest to close this as invalid. Nowaday design is that if there
are compilation errors, the OW is selected. Please discuss this
behaviour on nbui mailing list and then file an enhamcement, if needed.

Just updating the subcomponent.

Comment 3 akemr 2001-10-25 09:23:09 UTC
This is as designed behaviour, so I'm closing it. Try to persuade
people on nbui, but your chance is not big IMO :-)

Notes:
- when there is already opened OW and no errors detected, OW doesn't
  get focus
- you can go to Editor back also using Ctrl-3

Resolved for 3.4.x or earlier, no new info since then -> verified.
