When given the dialogue box to select the files to upload/download, it is only possible to check/uncheck one at a time.
A better way would be to allow multiple selections (using either shift or ctrl) and the ability to use space to
check/uncheck the selection in one go, as is the case with many other UIs.

Maybe, the "Search" field could help you - type e.g. "mydirectory" in it and then invoke the context menu and
Check/Uncheck All - all files and folders underneath "mydirectory" should be checked/unchecked.

I wasn't aware of this, and yes it does help somewhat, though this feature would still be preferred as it is quite a
long way round.

If this is considered an acceptable alternative (I know there are far more pressing issues), I will resolve the issue as
WORKSFORME.

I would suggest to keep this issue open but OTOH we have quite many issues and other enhancements, as you
can see... but keep it open, please.

Please work on this request asap, I use it all the day and would be a real time saver.
