Description Jaromir Uhrik 2010-02-09 03:25:45 UTC
Product Version: NetBeans IDE Dev (Build cdev-2005-on-100209)
Java: 1.6.0_17; Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 14.3-b01-101
System: Mac OS X version 10.5.8 running on x86_64; MacRoman; en_US (nb)

-Go to main menu Help>Report an Issue...
-change priority e.g to P1
-in Product combo box change the product
-->> priority is changed back to the default P3 value. It is similar with changing issue type or Platform fields.

What do you expect exactly? The current behaviour is as designed. The content of some combos and their default values are driven by the selected product i.e. they are reset when the product is changed.

I had the following thoughts in my mind:
-I want to create issue ->> push Help>Report an Issue
-I need to set up the priority high because it is really big problem ->> set the priority to P1 in the new issue panel
-Yes I need to select proper Product ->> select the product and component
-now I need to tell what's the problem ->> fill in the Summary and Description
-I have nothing else to change ->>push submit
Wow, I wanted file this issue as P1 but it is P3 - how come?

I admit that it is more common to change Product first and then other attributes. But it shall not be intention to replace changes made by user. I don't see any reason to change Priority and Platform when the Product is changed - or is there any?
Comment 3 Jan Stola 2010-02-09 04:09:33 UTC
I overlooked that this issue is only about fields that have the same set of values for all products. We can keep the user-selected values for these fields when product is changed => reopening.
