After creating a Maven module suite project, when you choose the Run action on the suite the project builds but nothing else. 

Is this as designed?
Does the project need additional configuration to specify the platform?

Yes exactly, as designed for now, unfortunately.

Module suite needs some netbeans installation directory to be able to run that nb instance and add suite modules to it. In ideal world, nb installation directory should be specified during wizard, but for now there is only hint in profiles.xml. User has to change <netbeans.installation> value in order to run/debug as desired.

Changing to enhancement, we should consider adding nb installation directory text field to the wizard.

4b74c9027269 more or less fixed this I think.
