After a succesfull install netbeans is unavailable for use, with no desktop icon or file in the program files. I have already installed and I am using eclipse.

Could you please attach installation log file(%USERPROFILE%\.nbi\log). If you don't see the icon you can always run NetBeans via %INSTALLDIR%\bin\netbeans.exe

The user managed to install. Closing the bug.
